877 dolphins dead!
On the news it said that 877 dolphins washed onto the shore and died. :'( They were in many ages, older ones, calves, mom ones. I wonder how this happened! I <3 dolphins! :'(

ReplyDeleteThat is so sad! How could that have happened? Once I read a book and 300 whales were trapped on a beach and the people tried to help them, but in the end they had to shoot the whales and bury them on a farm.
ReplyDeleteThe Maui's (hector's) dolphin, the worlds smallest and most endangered dolphin species, are only found in New Zealand. There are only 55 of them left! Most of them get caught in fishing nets, but fishermen won't stop fishing with nets because they say that they won't be able to feed their families if they don't use nets! But they can use fishing rods, can't they? Or they can at least fish more out into the sea cos Maui's dolphins only live near the coastline.
I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE ARE ONLY 55 MAUI'S DOLPHINS LEFT!!!
